26th of October 2012. Hub Open

My City — Cheboksary
«As Hub`s administrators, who took part in remodeling of the place, say, brushes were put away one hour before opening. Restoration of the place hasn’t finished yet:

— We will be finishing it in process. We want to hear the opinion of people, who will come here. We want to know, how it would be more comfortable for them, what they would like it to be, — tells administrator of the project Ivan Yarmoshuk, —by the way, even on the 9th of October there was really nothing. We set a goal — to open Hub on the 26th, and we did it! It was not easy, we spent all our days on a construction side.

Manufacturing style interior is preserved. High grey concrete ceiling, preserved in its original look, interesting parts of brick wall, which look smoothly and unusual, make the style. But, if you think, every detail arouses curiosity at the new place of Hub. As an example, I liked the way, lights were placed: they formed a flower in one place and made some sort of abstraction in the other. The walls were painted white. New cosy interior details were added: an armchair, bar counter, ledges, books. The floor worths certain attention! Alternatively to grainy walls and grey concrete ceiling, it`s sleek and white. The place has a club feel: half-light, screen project units, video installations —everything is moving and shining. Next to entrance there is a bar counter with bowls full of cookies on it. Tea, coffee and colourful cocktails, which look like desserts. Manufacturing style interior is preserved. To the opening day ranges of chairs were placed in front of the improvisation stage. We were waiting for TOP-bloggers of «LJ bloggers school» from Moscow, but they didn`t come. It was emerged later on, that they were delayed, someone understood someone in a wrong way, and the phone connection went bad.

And on the opening day organizers of the project Ivan Yarmoshuk and Evgeniy Karasyov performed a presentation «What is Hub and what use does it make?». It turned out that Hub is a cultural-entertaining zone in the evening and a working-communicative zone in the daytime. It will have every important thing for an office work: printer, fax etc.

Evgeniy told the guests, that every willing person may become an owner of one of 5 plastic cards. “Guest” and “friend” may rely on a 10% discounting, “resident” rents one of 20 coworking places, “crew” and “lucky man” get 500 as a gift. A “lucky man” card is going to be ************ . How? It`s a secret.

1 minute costs 1 ruble, for those, who decided to become a resident, rental fee is 2999 rub. In the opening day 7 coworking places have found their owners.

Hub`s guests are worthy of certain attention. They are young ones as well as representatives of the elder generations—all of them are socially active, creative people. Overall, according to the Hub`s survey everyone is satisfied with new Hub. Many guests liked more convenient location, cosy feel and shiny floor.

Among invited guests were local bloggers, poets, journalists, some of them are well-known. As an example, Alexander Belov, vice editor of “Sovetskaya Chuvashia” newspaper. Alexander Borisovich shared with us his impressions:
—I feel myself in another country, because the language is not known, but I like that feel.

Also there were civil activists. As a guest, requested by journalist Nikitinskiy, to Hub arrived young, but very active opposer, notorious Dmitriy Karuev:
—I`m here for the first time. Whether I like it or not? I haven`t understand it yet.

Discussions along with tea and coffee lasted till 11pm On the next day Hub`s friends had an opportunity to meet famous in Russia bloggers.
An opening of an annual Festival of social advertising also was held in Hub on 27th of October. There were master classes “Social Advertising and modern social problems”, and other informative and entertaining stuff.

And organizers of Hub project promises us lots of other different interesting things and offer every visitor to partook this creative space.»

«…a feel at the place prepossessed for(to) lectures and question-answer evening absolutely. But free communication suddenly turned out to be great. There was not just *продвинутые* young people, but wealthy adults. We spoke surprisingly different topics, which can appear in newspaper or TV. Also we were surprised by young people at that place. Can you imagine nearly a hundred of boys and girls at one place, who were not looking for dancing, beer and laughing gas…»
